Pumpkin Picking 2020
In order to offer a safe pumpkin picking experience this year we have eliminated all pumpkinfest activities outside of harvesting pumpkins. The only area of the farm that is open to visit is the pumpkin patch itself – access to the rest of the farm is not permitted for walks, picnics or other activities. We understand that this is a fun family fall activity and are hoping it can still be that while you harvest – but we are counting on our customers to follow the guidelines set forth below and ensure that they are doing everything possible to continue the great work our community has done to slow the spread of Covid-19 and keep our community safe.
Covid-19 Guidelines:
*Absolutely no entry to those who are sick, have symptoms of covid-19 or have been exposed or tested without being cleared.
*Everyone is required to maintain at least a six foot distance from all of those outside of their immediate social bubble. If you or any member of your group is unable to do this, you will not be permitted to stay at the pumpkin patch and you will be asked to leave immediately. You must stay together with those you enter the patch with. All children must be directly supervised at all times.
*Please limit your group size whenever possible to allow everyone to safely harvest pumpkins. At this time we will not be limiting the size of families visiting but all visitors must stay within their bubble at all times. If we find that these limits are being pushed or people are not distancing, we will have to enforce stricter measures.
*Everyone must wash and/or sanitizer their hands before and after visiting the pumpkin patch
*Please limit touching of pumpkins and other objects whenever possible
*As it’s outdoor similar to a park, masks are encouraged but not required as long as proper distances are maintained. We are making every effort to ensure that you won’t be coming in to close proximity to others, however in situations where you may come in proximity with someone not in your social group, you will be required to wear a mask. Masks will be required if you’re unable to maintain a distance from those in your social group and you may be asked to wear one in certain situations such as paying for your pumpkins. Please bring a mask with you in case those situations arise.
How pumpkin picking will work:
*Pumpkin picking 2020 will be at our Buckhorn Berry Farm location, ‪3055 Berrie Rd.‬
*There are no appointments or scheduled times for picking
*Pumpkin picking will be open ‪from 10am-5pm‬ on Saturdays and Sundays (last entry at 4:30 to allow time for harvesting) the first four weekends of October. That’s ‪October 3rd‬ & 4th , 10th & 11th, 17th & 18th and 24th & 25th. We will be open ‪from 10am until 5pm‬ for Pick Your Own Pumpkins only. Due to Covid-19 there will be no other activities from previous years open or allowed. We are not open during the week, on Thanksgiving Monday and our final day open for the season will be ‪Sunday October 25th.‬ We will not be open on Halloween day.
*Our farm store will *not* be open at our Buckhorn Berry Farm location- only the store at our McLean location will remain open on weekends in October as that store is larger and has more ability for people to maintain their distance and is easier for us to control the flow of traffic. You will be able to purchase jams, syrup, preserves and other seasonal goodies there.
*To come to the pumpkin patch you will drive past the entrance for the farm store on Berrie rd. You will continue down the road continuing about .5 of a kilometre, following the pumpkin patch signs.
*Follow the signs in to the pumpkin patch where you will be directed to park in the field.
*Once out of your car please ensure that you and everyone in your group is maintaining proper physical distances from others while following the signs for the entrance to the pumpkin patch
*Entrance to the pumpkin patch will be limited to allow for proper distancing. Please maintain at least a six foot distance from those also waiting for entry to the pumpkin patch. Please stay with your group at all times.
*Please limit your time in the pumpkin patch to respect all of the other people who are also looking to safely pick their pumpkins. We do expect some days to be busier. We have been permitted to keep our pumpkin patch open as it is an essential harvest activity. We recognize that this is a fun family activity but ask that you limit the length of your visit in order to allow as many people as possible to safely harvest pumpkins.
*Please make your way to the payment stations to pay for your pumpkins.
